Part 4 of 6 in the MaxisRichards.com Patent Research Series.
This entry focuses on transcranial ultrasound and direct-communication claims. It distinguishes noninvasive neuromodulation from the broader phrase “synthetic telepathy.”
What a patent establishes: A patent records what an inventor claimed and disclosed. It does not, by itself, prove that every embodiment works as described, that a system was deployed operationally, or that it was used against any specific person. This series separates the patent record from interpretation.
Patent Records
Ultrasound can be focused deep into the brain with millimeter precision, non‑invasively. These patents show that ultrasound is being developed not only for therapy but for cognitive enhancement, direct information transfer, and brain‑computer interfacing.
US9729252B2 – “Method and system for direct communication” (Tyler et al.)
- Inventors: William J. Tyler, Isy Goldwasser, Robert Muratore, Sumon Pal, Tomokazu Sato, Daniel Z. Wetmore
- Assignee: Cerevast Medical Inc.
- Filed: April 21, 2015 | Granted: August 8, 2017
- Summary: Information is translated into energy pulses and directed transcranially to a target brain region via ultrasound, producing a cognitive effect perceived as the information. Claim 3 lists possible effects: touch, auditory and visual perception, language comprehension, memory, emotion, attention, relaxation, fear, sleep state, risk‑taking, etc.
- TI community relevance: This is the closest patent to a “synthetic telepathy” transmitter. It claims the ability to place sensations, emotions, and even language directly into the brain using ultrasound.
