My position

I CALL IT WHAT IT IS.

Gaza was not simply a battlefield where tragedy happened. It was a trapped civilian population subjected to mass killing, forced displacement, deprivation, and systematic destruction. Neighborhood after neighborhood was erased. Families were ordered to move, then ordered to move again. The geography of survival kept shrinking.

I reject the lie that morality requires neutral language in the face of organized destruction. Gaza was a genocide.

That is my political and moral conclusion—and it is no longer a conclusion made in isolation. In September 2025, the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry concluded that Israel had committed genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The Commission’s legal finding is part of the public record. So is the support that made the campaign possible.

The history did not begin in 2023

The Palestinian story cannot be reduced to one attack, one government, or one news cycle. During the 1948 Nakba—Arabic for “catastrophe”—approximately 750,000 Palestinians were displaced or dispossessed. Many refugees from southern Palestine crowded into the Gaza Strip. Their families lived for generations inside one of the most densely populated places on Earth, separated from homes and land they were never allowed to reclaim.

Then the same people were told, again and again, to flee within Gaza as Israel’s military campaign moved across the territory. To describe this only as “war” erases the history of occupation, confinement, dispossession, and unequal power that shaped every mile of the destruction.

The American contribution

The United States has a standing commitment—subject to congressional appropriation—to provide Israel $3.8 billion every year through 2028: $3.3 billion in Foreign Military Financing grants and $500 million for missile defense. These are grants, not ordinary loans Israel is expected to repay.

Brown University’s Costs of War project calculated that the United States supplied $21.7 billion in military aid to Israel in the two years after October 7, 2023—$17.9 billion in the first year and $3.8 billion in the second. It estimated another $9.65 to $12.07 billion for related U.S. military operations in Yemen and the wider region.

The timing matters. The $21.7 billion was not handed over before October 7. It was supplied after the assault on Gaza began, as the scale of death, displacement, and destruction became impossible to deny. America continued funding the machinery with full knowledge of what the machinery was doing.

Responsibility cannot be outsourced

Israel is responsible for its conduct. America is responsible for America’s conduct. A government cannot deliver billions in military assistance, replenish weapons, defend an ally diplomatically, and then claim to be merely watching events unfold.

I believe the United States materially enabled the destruction of Gaza. I believe American officials chose strategic alliance over Palestinian life. I believe taxpayers were forced to finance acts that violated the human rights principles our government claims to defend.

If your money buys the weapon, your government protects the campaign, and your leaders keep the supply line open, you do not get to wash your hands and call yourself a bystander.

What conscience demands

NO MORE BLANK CHECKS.
NO MORE DISPOSABLE PEOPLE.

I stand for an end to military support that enables mass civilian destruction, unrestricted humanitarian access, accountability under international law, the freedom and equal human dignity of Palestinians, and a political future that does not require one people to disappear so another can feel secure.

This is not hatred of Jewish people. It is opposition to state violence, occupation, forced displacement, and genocide. Human rights either protect Palestinians too, or “human rights” is only a slogan powerful countries use when convenient.
